Updating blackberry 8830 os

Should you unplug or cancel the update process before completion, your smartphone may be unusable and you may need to restart the update process to regain use of your device.

If a new version of the device software is available for your Black Berry device, it will be listed in the Settings view in Black Berry® Link on your computer.

To determine what OS version you're currently running, click the Options icon on your Black Berry home screen and select About.

Your OS version will be listed as a series of numbers after a lowercase V (v4.2.2.184) on the first screen.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process.

Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run again and it should load the OS to the device.
